India Local Invoicing
Timeline
January 2023 - March 2025
Role
Lead UX/UI Designer
Overview
Provide a localized purchasing experience to Mouser's Indian customers.

Problem statement
The current state of Mouser India has failed to provide a localized experience to customers in India. Our feature will address this gap by allowing customers to use local currency and use local tax IDs (GSTIN) which will allow them to have a checkout experience more tailored to them and their needs. We'll know we are successful when we see users using their GSTIN during checkout, creating accounts, and using local currency.
Our solution
Cart Experience
When customers enter the cart they will be provided with two checkout choices:
-
GST Business Invoice.
-
Standard Invoice.
Each option has details around shipping, taxes, and payment options that would help the customer decide the best option for them. If customers choose the GST Business invoice option they must enter and validate their GST Number to continue with checkout.

Checkout Experience
After customers make their selection and continue to checkout, they will receive slightly different experiences depending on their choice in cart.
-
Standard invoice customers will see no change from the standard Mouser India checkout experience
-
GST invoice customers will see a few details that are relevant to the GST Business invoice, such as shipping options, taxes and GSTIN, and payment options.

How did we get there?
Finding User Focus in a Leadership-Led Project
This project had strong direction from leadership, as they had a clear vision for Mouser's presence and business in India. There were specific business objectives around conversion and market share. My role was to make sense of the detailed business requirements and translate them into intuitive user flows.
While final and key decisions were made at the leadership level, I focused on advocating for our users as much as possible by refining interactions and pushing for more intuitive UIs and experiences when it made sense. We went through many different iterations of this project, each one with slightly different and specific requirements. During each iteration it was my job to balance leadership expectations with user experience principles to deliver a design that I believe was both efficient and met organizational goals.
This experience reinforced my ability to advocate for users, even when design direction is predefined.
Outcomes
Fullstory Insights
We used Fullstory after launch to monitor customer experience and interactions by tracking multiple types of metrics such as:
-
Clicks on the different invoice options in cart
-
Clicks on the ILI learn more button
-
Clicks on the GST validate button
-
Invalid GSTIN errors
-
Incorrect currency errors
We were also interested in orders and revenue over time, so I made sure to set up metrics to track both of those.
